1 1/2 cups diced, cooked ham
1/4 cup onion
2 Tablespoons butter or margarine
10.5 ounces cream of celery soup
1/2 cup milk
1 cup frozen peas
1 – 2 cups uncooked pasta or egg noodles (your favorite type)
Cook pasta or noodles according to package instructions; set aside.
In a large skillet, melt butter and sauté ham and onions over medium low until onions are soft.
Stir in frozen peas, and cook for a couple minutes.
Add cream of celery soup and milk; cook until smooth and thick.
Serve over cooked pasta.
Notes
For the ham, use whatever ham you have on hand including leftover spiral ham, lunch meat, ham steaks, etc. Cut the ham into bite-sized pieces.
Onions can be omitted, or use dried, minced onions as a substitute.
Substitute drained, canned peas for frozen, if desired.
The frozen peas do not need to be thawed before adding to the creamed peas with ham.
Cream of Mushroom or Cream of Onion can be used instead of cream of celery, if desired.
To serve, spoon over your favorite type of cooked noodle of pasta. Elbow macaroni or egg noodles are my two favorites, or try serving over toast for an old fashioned creamed peas with ham recipe.
