Brown Sugar Glaze Spiral Ham Recipe.

7-10 pound spiral sliced ham

1 cup apple juice

1 cup brown sugar light or dark will work

1 cup pure maple syrup

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In a medium saucepan over medium heat combine the apple juice, brown sugar, and maple syrup. Bring to a low boil then reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for approximately 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Glaze is ready when it’s thickened and shiny.

Place ham in a baking greased baking dish and coat with half of the glaze mixture. Cover the pan with foil, tenting so the foil does not touch the ham, and bake for approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours, or until a thermometer inserted at the thickest part of the ham reads 140 degrees F.

Pour the remaining glaze over the top of the ham, and return to oven, uncovered. Turn the temperature to 450 degrees and bake for another 5-7 minutes, keeping a close eye on it to prevent burning. When the glaze is turning dark and caramelizing (but not burning!) remove it from the oven. Serve and enjoy.
